Prospective graduate students.

Dr. Barker mentors graduate students pursuing their doctorate of audiology (Au.D.) degrees, graduate degrees with Listening and Spoken Language emphasis, and Ph.D. degrees in Disability Disciplines or Neuroscience at Utah State University. If you are interested in working with Dr. Barker in the Aural Rehabilitation lab, please reach out to her during the application process and make sure she is accepting new graduate students.

We love bringing new students into our scientific family. Please continue to explore our website so that you have an understanding of our work and the culture in our lab. We are especially excited about potential students who:

  • have a passion for interdisciplinary, collaborative research.
  • recognize that the ear is connected to the brain and their relationship is dynamic, particularly when it comes to spoken language processing.
  • are interested in implementation science within the field of aural rehabilitation.

Undergraduate research assistants.

Undergraduate research assistants are crucial members of the Aural Rehabilitation Lab. The undergraduate students in our lab are actively involved in research; this includes participating in study design, participant recruitment and testing, data analysis, and research dissemination.

Undergraduate students who serve as research assistants commit a minimum of 3 hours a week in the lab for at least one academic year. These students are top-notch with a passion for learning, research, and the field of communication sciences and disorders.

If you are interested in volunteering as a research assistant with the lab, please download and complete this application. Upon completion of your application, please email it directly to Dr. Barker at brittan.barker@usu.edu
